Revolt Chair by Ahrend

Description
The Revolt chair, originally designed in 1953, is the work of Friso Kramer (1922). Over the years the Revolt Chair has become an unmistakable style icon in Dutch interiors. Many aspects of the Revolt chair were regarded as extremely innovative when it was introduced back in 1953. For instance, the chair did not have a tubular frame as was usual at that time. Instead, it was given a punched U-section frame that gradually narrowed to an almost closed round tube on the underside, into which load-bearing studs were inserted. The seat and the back were made of heavy-duty Ciranol laminate. With its revolutionary new design principle, the chair caused a sensation when it was first introduced. It sold extremely well for many years and was used in schools, offices, works canteens, the private sector, etc. In 1993 the Revolt chair was brought back into production using new materials for the seat and back. After the chair had been out of stock for a number of years, Ahrend reintroduced it in 2004. Revolt is available in black and white. Synthetic shell.
